Water, Environment & Sanitation Society (WESS) is a non-profit, non-political, non-government development organization dedicated to bring lasting improvements in the quality of life of the poorest communities in Balochistan. WESS was established as an independent NGO in July 1999 and is registered with the Government of Balochistan, under the Societies Registration Act.

A team of veterans and highly qualified professionals steer WESS towards achievement of its strategic programmes of Environmental health, Child rights and Child protection, Education, Community Development, Economic and Social Empowerment of marginalized communities and Humanitarian assistance during disasters or displacement.

The organization adopts participatory and rights based approach to development in pursuit of all its development endeavours, for we believe that without participation and active involvement of people no change theory can ever be materialized. The Organization’s over a decade-long experience of implementing around 80 successful projects (both in development and humanitarian sector) in 25 districts of Balochistan have enabled it to reach around two millions of beneficiaries and demonstrating meaningful change into their lives and it has also provided the organization with opportunities to develop robust and rewarding partnership with numerous key national international actors that give a lead edge to the organization amongst all its competitive partners, and, indeed, this is what makes the organization stand tall and confident on its developed competencies.

The organization envisioned with creation of a prosperous and equitable society has developed the following achievable mission and objectives in order to significantly contribute in making its translation into reality possible.

To improve social and physical environment for the disadvantaged people, especially women and children and to provide humanitarian assistance to those affected by disaster or displacement.


To bring lasting improvement in the quality of life of marginalized communities, especially women and children through policy and practice interventions inEnvironmental health, Child rights  and Child protection, Community Development and empowerment, and Humanitarian Assistance in disasters or displacement.


Water and Sanitation: To help increase community access to safe drinking water through provision and promotion of appropriate technologies and facilitate communities in adopting safe sanitation and hygienic lifestyle.

Community Development & Empowerment: To contribute towards the community development and community empowerment to protect their rights through awareness raising, advocacy and promotion, trainings & interventions

Women Social and Economic Empowerment: To contribute towards social empowerment of women, fostering enabling environment for their inclusion in decision making, respect to their rights and creating opportunities for their economic empowerment through advocacy and interventions

Child Rights and Child Protection: To promote child rights and contribute towards protection and prevention of vulnerable children through skill development, health, education and advocacy interventions.

Human Rights Promotion: Promotion of human rights, minorities rights, especially women rights and gender equality through advocacy, communities empowerment, awareness and capacity building.

Education: To contribute improvement in the educational system through improved school management and parents/teachers participation.

Humanitarian Assistance: To extend humanitarian assistance to those affected by disaster or displacement.

Sustainable Livelihood and Natural Resource ManagementTo contribute towards sustainable natural resource management and livelihoodsecurity through awareness raising, advocacy and promotion of appropriate technology.
